BD Construction Completes Work on Faith Christian School

BD Construction of Kearney, Nebraska, has concluded work on Faith Christian School. BD Construction broke ground to begin this project on May 19, 2009. The non-denominational K-8 school is located northwest of 17th Avenue and 56th Street in Kearney at 5710 19th Avenue.

Construction on the school has progressed positively as the completion date was scheduled for the 2010-2011 school year. With the new school year in full swing, students, parents, faculty, staff and community members have enjoyed using this new facility.

The completed structure's appearance is much different than that of any other school or building in Kearney ? the shape and design of the building has a more modern look with a retro twist. The 24,000-square-foot building project includes eleven classrooms, administrative offices, multi-purpose and conference rooms, a library, computer lab, art/science room, an exterior walkout, playground and athletic field. Space has also been allotted for a future gymnasium addition.

“We are very pleased with the finished product of our new facility. BD Construction has certainly gone the extra mile and this building will provide a positive, Christian learning environment for the children,” stated Andy Falk, head teacher. “Although the school will include additional space for the classes, the student/teacher ratios will still remain small, approximately 15:1. We are looking forward to being an educational role model in the community.”

Faith Christian School staff began moving furniture into the building on July 24, 2010. Classes resumed for the 2010-2011 school year, in the new facility, on August 24.

“Classes for Faith Christian were previously held in local churches,” stated Mark Benjamin, president and CEO of BD Construction, Inc. “Now, for the first time, students can enjoy having their own school building. In addition, the building will give the school its own identity and increased visibility in the community.”

An open house for Faith Christian School will be held September 23, 2010. The public is invited to the open house from 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. to tour the new facility, speak with faculty and staff and enjoy light refreshments.
