BD Construction Completes Work on
The Nebraska Firefighters Memorial Garden
Released On: September 22, 2010
After searching for a way to honor Nebraska firefighters, the Nebraska Firefighters Museum collaborated with BD Construction of Kearney, Nebraska, one of the Midwest's leading construction companies, to create the Nebraska Firefighters Memorial Garden, located near the Great Platte River Road Archway Museum, by Kearney.
The Nebraska Firefighters Memorial Garden is a lakeside area that serves as a quiet place for reflection to honor the fallen heroes of the fire and rescue services of Nebraska. The garden is home to the annual Nebraska Fallen Firefighter Memorial Service.
Both the museum and garden are now a year-round destination point for firefighters and emergency medical technicians (EMTs), as well as a landmark attraction for Interstate 80 travelers.
There will be a dedication for the Nebraska Firefighters Memorial Garden during the Nebraska Fallen Firefighters Memorial service on October 10, 2010, at 10:00 a.m., in the northeast corner of the Nebraska Firefighters Museum and Education Center premises. Many state, regional and local dignitaries, as well as firefighters, honor guard members, musicians and family members?those of survivors and supporters?will join in the ceremonial festivities. The public is invited and encouraged to attend this event.
“We were enthusiastic to begin work on the memorial garden, providing a place honor those who have given their lives to save others,” stated BD Construction President, Mark Benjamin. “This feature is an attractive addition to the now-standing museum and education center and carries out the mission of the Nebraska Firefighters Foundation?to memorialize Nebraska's firefighters.”
BD Construction completed the Nebraska Firefighters Museum and Education Center in the spring of 2009. The facility, featuring a turn-of-the-century fire station that allowed for 10,000 square feet of interior space, holds offices, a gift shop and conference and party rooms to host birthday parties and other events. Not only does the facility feature historical displays of trucks and equipment, it also has devoted space in the museum for educating the public about preventing fires and fire safety.
