BD Construction Completes Remodel at Harlan County Health System
Released On: December 16, 2010

BD Construction, Inc., of Kearney, Nebraska, one of the Midwest's leading construction companies, has completed a remodel project in the radiology center of the Harlan County Health System.

Construction to the hospital's remodel in the radiology center began in October 2010. The project consisted of renovations to the mammography room and restroom, reception workroom, imaging corridor and bone density room. New features of the remodel include a flooring base, doors, sink and plumbing updates, cabinetry in the nurse station, wall and electrical work and fresh paint.

"The square-footage addition of the radiology area at the Harlan County Health System is a spacious add-on for both employees and patients," stated Mark Benjamin, president and CEO of BD Construction.

Harlan County Health System was able to move forward with the remodel from a grant by the Leona M. and Harry B. Hemsley Charitable Trust. The trust seeks to improve rural healthcare and awarded Harlan County Health System with capital and program assistance, totaling $776,000. One specification of the grant required the area receiving assistance to be a spa-like atmosphere, helping to provide a comfortable place for procedures and promote healing.

"We are very honored to have received this grant," stated Jeff Shelton, CEO of Harlan County Health System. "Organizations must be invited to even apply for this award, so for our hospital to be asked and selected speaks multitudes about the type of organization we have here and run day to day."
