BD CONSTRUCTION SET TO BREAK GROUND AT NEBRASKA YOUTH CAMP
Released On: September 16, 2009

BD Construction of Kearney will join the Nebraska Youth Camp (NYC) for the groundbreaking of the dining hall on Saturday, September 19, at 5:30 pm at the camp. The Nebraska Youth Camp is located east of Kearney four miles on 11th Street and south one mile on Sweetwater Avenue. The Nebraska Youth Camp sign is on the left after the interstate bridge.

Construction will begin this fall on the 5,000 square-foot, pre-engineered (steel) structure. The all-weather building, paid for by a broad base of donors, will house an activities room/dining hall, restrooms, and future kitchen.

“The current dining facility is no longer adequate to serve the number of campers we see throughout the year,” according to Eric Tremaine, president of the NYC board of directors. “While we have secured funds for the first portion of the building, we’re still raising funds to finish the kitchen.”

The NYC has been expanding its services and growing nearly every year since its inception in the 1950s, and in spite of a wild fire at the camp last fall, the board continued to move forward with the efforts to bring the building to fruition.

“This will be a nice addition and upgrade to the existing facilities at the camp,” stated BD Construction President, Mark Benjamin.

NYC, an official non-profit corporation since 1962, offers eight weeks of Christian youth camping and family activities every summer at Trail Junction, a sixty-acre area comprised of light woods and the Platte River. To learn more about the camp, visit www.nebraskayouthcamp.com.
