BD CONSTRUCTION STARTING ON STEEL STRUCTURE
FOR SHOEMAKER'S TRAVEL PLAZA
Released On: May 27, 2009
BD Construction of Kearney, Nebraska, has started
construction on Shoemaker's Travel Plaza in Lincoln, Nebraska, located at 4800 West ‘O’
Street. BD Construction is partnering on this green building with Kingery Construction, prime
contractor for the project, from Lincoln.
BD Construction will furnish and erect the pre-engineered steel structure for the 29,000
square foot truck plaza. “The complexity of the design will make this a challenging, but
rewarding, project,” according to Mark Benjamin, president of BD Construction.
The travel plaza will consist of diesel and gas fuel pumps, a Shoemaker's Restaurant, a
fast food restaurant, and full services for truckers including showers and laundry. The plaza will
have three distinct elevations for the fast food restaurant, convenience store, and Shoemaker's
Restaurant. The facility will also feature several antiques, motorcycles and hand crank fuel
pumps from the old gas station.
“We are excited to work alongside BD Construction of Kearney again,” stated Chris
Kingery of Kingery Construction. “I am confident they will create an excellent structure for
Shoemaker's Travel Plaza.”
