Released On: October 27, 2009
BD Construction of Kearney, Nebraska, has started
construction on St. Paul Public Schools in St. Paul, Nebraska. The $4.7 million construction
plan will consist of additions and renovations to the high school and elementary school.
The elementary school addition will consist of a total of 9,680 square feet – resulting in
five classrooms, a principal's office and work spaces. The high school construction will result in
an addition of 12,720 square feet, seven classrooms, a principal?s office and work spaces. BD
Construction will renovate parts of the existing buildings and update fire and safety codes,
electrical, and asbestos abatement.
“With our experience from other educational facilities, we were able to develop a
strategic plan to utilize the monetary funds the most efficient way possible,” stated Mark
Benjamin, president of BD Construction. “The completed project will incorporate continued use
of the original 3-story building, as well as the new construction.”
The new design will provide an administrative presence at the elementary and high
school entrances, in addition to secured entries. Also, the buildings will allow for better
separation of the elementary and high school students, resulting in improved traffic flow. The
project requires no reduction of existing playground space. Construction on St. Paul Public
Schools is expected to be completed by summer of 2010.
