Email
Originally from Grand Rapids, Michigan, Pete Keyes was studying architecture at Lawrence Tech University when his parents introduced him to the city of Kearney. Following his move from Detroit, Pete transferred to the University of Nebraska at Kearney’s construction management program, which he graduated from in 1997. After graduation, Pete worked at Interstate Structures for seven years. He served as assistant superintendent, project superintendent and construction coordinator in that time. Eventually, the company closed its business, which provided Pete the opportunity to join BD Construction in 2005.
In his position of HR/safety director at BD Construction, Pete handles daily safety direction, human resources, risk management, crew scheduling and contract writing. He also assists the project managers and superintendents with training, mentoring and quality control whenever needed.
An advocate of community involvement, Pete not only coaches Grand Island Youth Baseball, but also serves on the UNK Construction Management Advisory Committee and the AGC Nebraska Building Chapter Education Committee. In addition, he is active in his family’s activities and still makes time to embrace opportunities for concerts and a variety of sporting events.
